From competencies to communities: IP4OS at PUBMET 2026
PUBMET 2026 brought together researchers, journal editors, librarians, research support professionals, and other stakeholders in scholarly communication and Open Science. The conference was held in Zadar, Croatia, providing a space to exchange experiences and discuss current issues in research and scholarly publishing. The main theme of the 13th edition was Communities in Open Scholarly Communication: Governance, Responsibility, and Shared Infrastructures. The Conference was supported by OpenAIRE, OPERAS, SPARC Europe, EASE, EIFL, Knowledge Rights 21, and the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth of the Republic of Croatia.

The IP4OS UZSM team presented the project to an international audience through the talk From competencies to communities: aligning Intellectual Property with Open Science in practice. The talk addressed the challenges of putting Open Science and intellectual property principles into practice, particularly when it comes to balancing openness, protection, and the valorisation of research results. It introduced the IP4OS approach, which combines multi-professional learning, practical tools, and a Community of Practice to bring different professional perspectives together and support the use of IP and Open Science in everyday research and institutional practice.
