Bridging Intellectual Property (IP) and Open Science (OS) for Europe’s future

At the EOSC Symposium 2025, IP4OS coordinator Julia Priess-Buchheit presented how the IP4OS project is advancing a concerted IP and OS approach - showing how intellectual property management and open science practices can work hand in hand to boost knowledge valorisation in the European Research Area.

The presentation introduced the IP4OS Synergy Framework, a practical blueprint for aligning agile IP management with FAIR and open research practices. By empowering multi-professional teams - from IP managers and data stewards to OS ambassadors and legal experts - IP4OS paves the way for more equitable, transparent, and impactful research collaborations across Europe.

The session also connected IP4OS’s work with current EOSC and ERA actions, highlighting how joint frameworks and communities of practice can drive the transformation of research management and knowledge sharing.
